Therapy is an investment in your mental health; this can vary for every individual. When you first start therapy, we will discuss what it will look like for your presenting issues and decide what it will look like for you. Generally clients start out on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. There is no one way fits all duration, and I will not keep you longer than necessary.
There is a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, please cancel 24 hours in advance to avoid paying the appointment fee.
Your partner does not need to attend therapy with you, even if it is to work on issues in your marriage. Therapy can help individuals gain a better understanding of how to change their reaction to their spouse, learn better ways to communicate, and have a positive outlook on their relationship.
Many individuals need a unbiased party to discuss things with; this could be processing thoughts and feelings about various situations. Therapy can help with communication, understanding attachment styles and how they affect relationships, working through trauma, helping with addictions, working on family issues and so much more.
When you speak with a professional, you get one on one attention that focuses on you and your issues. Therapy is the collaboration between the client and therapist, where goals are established, solutions emerge and self-worth improves.
Therapists are legally and ethically bound to keep what clients say confidential, so things that clients say are not repeated.
There is an exception to this; if a client reports they are going to hurt themself or someone else then I will have to break confidentiality.
Therapy helps provide you with the necessary skills to have a more positive outlook on life and is beneficial in improving your mental health. Therapy is a good way of practicing self-care. Seeking therapy can be difficult, it takes courage to reach out and ask for help. It is a sign of strength to accept that sometimes it is necessary to find help.
